Il taccuino di Teoflo Gallaccini:
Maria Rachele Baiona
A considerable number of manuscripts pertaining to Teoflo Gallaccini, professor of mathematics and philosophy at the University of Siena from 1621 to his death in 1641, is collected in the Biblioteca degli Intronati in Siena. A small fascinating unique travel sketchbook is still preserved among those papers. It records a trip from Siena to Loreto made by Gallaccini between May and June 1610 and contains comments, various sketches of buildings and antique monuments together with a great number of Roman and Etruscan inscriptions that struck his fancy during the travel. This article aims to ofer a new contribution on this sketchbook and to shed new light on Gallaccini’s architectural and antiquarian interests.
