Los dibujos de vistas romanas de Valentin Carderera (1822 – 1831): el album D-6412 del Museo Nacional del Prado
Raquel Gallego Garcia
Valentín Carderera y Solano, a savant, a historian and a collector among many other things, was in Italy
between 1822 and 1831 and during his stay he sketched a good number of drawings of buildings. The album with his sketches is preserved in the album D-6412 at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. Through the study of some of these drawings, the paper offers some thoughts on the reasons why Carderera y Solano chose specific buildings for training; on the relationsthat some specific choices might suggest; and on the attitude of the Aragonese with regard to such a formative and vital experience
