The review analyzes the exhibition dedicated to Piero di Cosimo at the Uffizi in Florence (23 June-27 September 2015) and its catalogue. Being the first monographic exhibition of such an ample scope devoted to the painter, it had the merit to show in full his eccentric and brilliant talent, and his primary role in the evolution of Florentine painting straddling the end of the fifteenth-early sixteenth centuries. However, some important paintings and drawings were missing, and on the contrary some of the works on display were controversial, such as the modest Sacra Conversazione in the Alana Collection, which can be referred only to Piero’s entourage, certainly not to his hand. The article is also occasion for further attribution and iconography notations, following previous studies by the reviewer.
