Effetto Medusa: immagine e tempo a teatro

The essay investigates the relationship between time and theatrical image. Following the suggestion of “Medusa’s effects”, it is possible to identify a theory of still images on the stage. The relationship between time and theatrical image is discussed in the context of quasi immobile performative image. The image is charged with a temporal dialectic that is readable in a moment of suspension. The frozen image, the gesture quasi-immobile, the movement are investigated as the expression of a theater of memory always alive, whose roots are in the relationship between mental images (phantasmata) and performative assumption of iconographic schemata
