Digital Humanities, Digital Art History: perché un disegno leonardesco assomiglia a un tappeto svedese?

In recent years Art History has been deeply involved in the rapid evolution of Digital Technologies. The approach to written but also visual sources has deeply changed, and brand new repositories together with brand new research tools have become a common denominator for researchers dealing with Art History. This article explores the ongoing debate on what is called Digital Art History, and seek to investigate some possible new research tracks on this domain. In particular it tries to verify some possible innovations coming from the use of Information Technologies in the feld of visual data mining, discussing the new frontier of image retrieval and their possible application in the feld of Art History.
