Santi da chiesa e da camera: i dipinti di Luigi Garzi per il cardinale Alderano Cybo
Fabrizio Federici
During the last two decades of the 17th century the painter Luigi Garzi produced for his patron cardinal Alderano Cybo several works; among them we find some of the best examples of Garzi’s art. Along with some lost canvases for Cybo’s collection and the fresco of the dome in the Cybo Chapel in the Roman basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo, he painted four altarpieces for churches in Massa, Jesi, Ostia. The attention is focused on these four main works, which show similarities and differences between them.
