Italian administration for Cultural Heritage is facing a new reform, whose aim is to reorganize in depth both the head offi ces of Ministry of Culture and the Soprintendenze spread all over Italian territory. Archeologists and art historians, university professors and members of the administration of the Ministry of Culture, together with many associations for the protection of cultural heritage are protesting harshly against the Minister of Culture, his staff , and the Presidente del Consiglio Matteo Renzi against this reorganization, affi rming that it would destroy the Italian way to “tutela”. This new reform and the related protest shows the lack of dialogue between politicians and experts (art historians and archaeologists) which appears to be a constant in Italian public debate since the end of World War II.
