Alighiero Boetti e il “niente” (1966-1969). Cortine, distanze, interregni
Michele Dantini
Presented here is a monographic essay dedicated to a single work by Boetti, I vedenti, dated 1967. Two different paths of interpretation are attempted. The first path leads to the recognition of artworks and artists contemporary to Boetti or a little earlier, starting with Fontana to reach Warhol and his reflections on «mental Braille». The second path, on the other hand, refers to more distant and indirect circumstances, like the theme of “journey” in de Chirico, for example, which is considered here as a metaphor for that “distance” that always belongs to art and of which artworks are evidence and indices, as well as the orphic/metaphysical theme of Nothing, which is also Something and that it is necessary to (fail to) represent.
