Nicolas Guillaume de la Fleur (1595/1600-1663): un pittore lorenese tra Roma la Francia in età barocca
Chiara Minardi
In this essay, the author reconstructs the history of the two series of floral etchings engraved by Nicolas Guillaume de La Fleur (1595/1600-1663), painter and draughtsman from Lorraine, residing in Rome during the 1630s, where he was protected by the celebrated art patron Cassiano dal Pozzo. The personality and work of Nicolas Guillaume have been recently studied by professor Jacques Thuillier (1928-2011), of the Collège de France. His research has guided the author to the new discoveries presented here, concerning new evidence on his biography as well as on the creation of the etchings.
