I monumenti e le opere d’arte
della Valnerina tra gli interventi
del passato e gli interrogativi
per il futuro
Giordana Benazzi
Unfortunately, earthquakes are recurrent. Where they happen more frequently, such as in the Italian regions struck in the past months, effective methods of intervention on monumental buildings and artworks, regulated by rules and corroborated by experience, are particularly requested. Unfortunately, the policies adopted on occasion of the latest earthquakes seem to ignore this and often leave space for incompetence and improvisation, at the same time delegitimizing the institutions traditionally responsible for the protection and restoration of artistic heritage. This paper is the passionate tale of how this work was done on occasion of the 1976, 1979 and 1997 earthquakes, among many difficulties, but also with great skill and selfless dedication.
