This article reports on a recent restoration of a work from the Sculpture Collection of the Berlin Museums.
A painted terracotta lunette representing the Virgin and Child between two angels was attributed to Luca
della Robbia in the early twentieth century, before being considered a nineteenth-century forgery and
remaining confined to the museum’s depot for decades. The analysis shows that the object cannot date
from the nineteenth century but rather from the fifteenth century
